Fire Station Visit

Fire Station Visit

What do you get when you let the Cubs loose on a fire engine hose?

Wet!!!

As part of the Fire Safety Activity Badge, the Cubs visited Stanmore Fire Station.

The Cubs were first taken into the station call room where they learnt about how emergency calls come in from the 999 control room and the different types of emergencies the firemen have to attend.

The highlight of the evening was  every Cub got to have a go on the hose (with the help of a fireman) and taking a much closer look at the fire engine.  Cubs were allowed to climb aboard the passenger cab, try on the fireman helmets, and were taken around the appliance to look at all the equipment stored in the different compartments.

The visit ended with a tour of the upstairs of the station to see the living quarters where the firemen eat, sleep and exercise.
